Sometimes an expedition opens up much larger than had been imagined ... We were looking caves lost in the roaring forties: they were there, and the violence of the elements has not failed. But something very precious has been given more: we discovered an unknown island, unexplored, its location at the end of the Earth had preserved any violation [... ]
Thus begins the story of this strange expedition "Ultima Patagonia" which revealed to the world the fantastic limestone scenery of the Madre de Dios island, lost in the archipelago of Chilean Patagonia and submitted to one of the worst climates on the planet . The pleasure of pure exploration is reflected in this book, which combines two evocations of this journey, one with words in a text by George Marbach and the other images, with black and white pictures by Luc-Henri Fage.
